Drawing skills can be learned!

Listen to what previous workshop participants say about Hilda Van Netten’s one day workshops:

“What a wonderful one-day class! I used to sketch, years ago, but was stuck and couldn’t get started again. Hilda’s class enabled me to see that I can draw and that I enjoy it. I don’t know how she imparted so much information without overloading us. I am looking forward to taking another class at the Painted Tree. Many thanks!” Elizabeth

“When I got home and displayed my work, the comment was “you drew that!”  Exceeded my expectations as well.”  J.G.

“A great workshop made learning new skills enjoyable and non threatening.”  A.B.

Hilda is a warm, welcoming and knowledgeable instructor.  She immediately puts you in your comfort zone.  No matter what your level of expertise you will benefit from this workshop.  E.F.

Learn to see so that you will be able to draw anything.  You will learn by doing.  There will be some interactive activities like making “blind portrait sketches” of each other.  Mostly, you will progress at your own speed through the activities.   It’s going to be fun!

If you’ve taken a drawing workshop in the past from Hilda, she will accommodate you and you can begin a drawing (either from your own black and white photographs (bring 5 or 6) or ones she will provide.)  No need to go back to basics for you!

What Do I need to bring?  All of the items below can be purchased before the workshop at The Painted Tree.  Come early and find what you need.  We’ll help!

A few good quality drawing pencils i.e. a 2B, 4B and 8B in brands like Staedtler, Koh-i-noor, or woodless graphite pencils.

A better quality sketchbook in a size you like i.e. Robert Bateman or some sketch paper

1 Staedtler Mars eraser

some blending stomps (tortillons)

lunch/drink or purchase your lunch at one of the charming restaurants nearby

Looking forward to drawing with you!
