In this workshop you will learn a variety of interesting and exciting artistic techniques which are valuable components to any contemporary or mixed media painter’s repertoire. Your sample work will then be brought together to create a variety of collages and/or incorporated into a mixed media art piece.
This is a wonderful workshop for both the new artist who has never painted before, as well as the experienced artist wanting to expand their skill base and try a new approach to their art. It is a fun and non-threatening way to unleash your creativity and to delve into the joy of artistic creation.

No previous art experience is required. Just bring your imagination and an open mind and be ready to play and experiment.


Materials for “Collage”

·    Canvas board or illustration board or wooden board/canvas any- any size you choose but at least 12” plus

·    Acrylic paints – Your choice of colours

·    A variety of brush sizes from small to large including approx. 1” and 3” flat

·    Pallet knife

·    Gel medium

·    White gesso (and black gesso if you have it)

·    Artist paper – inexpensive sketch paper or cartridge paper as well as a few sheets of good paper such as water colour paper or acrylic painting paper

·    A sharp tool for scratching like a wooden skewer or strong toothpicks

·    Ruler & scissors and lead pencil

·    Paper towels OR Painting Rags

Optional Items to Add a Personal Touch

·    Oil pastels and coloured pencils

·    Water proof markers – fine tip black, and other colours (personal preference)

·    Tissue paper – white and your choice of colours

·    Old photographs you don’t want anymore
